Committed to the idea of giving back to our community, in 2015 we created the Alcogal CSR Committee and chose two pillars on which to focus our social efforts: education and childhood. For each pillar, we selected an “insignia” foundation to support and organized activities throughout the year to raise funds which would then be matched and surpassed by the firm. Thanks to these contributions, we were able to support our two insignia foundations, ProEd and Creo En Ti. Additionally, in 2015 we also established a new recycling program and contributed to multiple NGOs such as the Special Olympics, Junior Achievement, the Teletón, among many others. Overall, it was a highly successful year for Alcogal’s community work.
Alcogal supported the “Teachers Inspiring Teachers” program of the ProEd foundation
Alcogal participated in “Teachers Inspiring Teachers“, a program of the ProEd foundation that consists of selecting public school teachers to attend dynamic workshops in which, by using the latest trends in technology and education, the teachers learn about the most modern and effective teaching methods to be applied in their classrooms later on. Our contribution consisted of sponsoring a scholarship for a teacher to participate in this program. The official graduation for the program was held on October 24th, 2015. Because of his excellent performance, the teacher that we sponsored was distinguished with the “Teacher who Inspires” award. With our donation, we also contributed to the creation of a “model classroom” at the public school Instituto Nuestra Señora de la Merced, where our teacher works. By supporting Pro Ed’s effort, Alcogal contributed to the broader goals of narrowing Panama’s educational gap and improving students’ preparedness to ensure that they are capable of assuming the challenges that lay ahead for our country.
In January 2016, the CEO of the ProEd foundation, Debbie Psychoyos, distinguished Alcogal by awarding the firm a certificate of appreciation for its support to the “Teachers Inspiring Teachers” program throughout 2015.
Alcogal delivers important donation to the Creo en Ti foundation
In December 2015, Alcogal delivered a significant donation of brand-new kitchen items to the Creo en Ti foundation. This NGO had identified this list as one of their main needs, as the items will help prevent any health issues and maintain the children’s hygiene. Both the foundation’s executives as well as the children who reside there showed their gratitude and joy over our donation.
Alcogal celebrates Three King’s Day with the children from the community El Limón
In January 2016, the Alcogal team organized a party to celebrate the Three Kings’ Day with the children of the El Limón community, located in Río Hato. Over 100 children participated in the event and were able to enjoy a day full of surprises, games, presents, piñata, camaraderie and lots of fun.
