On June 27th, at a meeting in Geneva, the World Council of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) appointed Alcogal partner Jorge Federico Lee as member of the International Court of Arbitration.
The ICC International Court of Arbitration, based in Paris, is the largest and most important arbitration institution in the world. It manages arbitrations in five continents and has 142 members from 89 countries and territories. The responsibilities of the members of the Court include participating in the decisions regarding the entity’s operations.
Mr. Lee will hold office until June 30th, 2015, when the Court’s current term ends.
Since 2006, Mr. Lee has been recognized by Chambers and Partners and other prestigious publications as one of the most outstanding lawyers in the Litigation practice area in the Republic of Panama. This appointment recognizes his intense professional trajectory in the arbitration practice, which includes participating in international and internal arbitrations, and serving as arbitrator, attorney and international panelist in matters related to arbitration and procedural law. He has held public office on several occasions, including high-ranking positions such as Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Panama, Minister of Labor and Social Welfare and Director General of the Colon Free Trade Zone.
