Victoria Castro
Junior Associate
Victoria Castro is an associate at Alcogal with more than 10 years of experience in tax law and fiscal compliance. Her practice focuses on advising clients on corporate tax matters, international taxation, and regulatory compliance, combining strong technical expertise with a practical approach to complex tax issues.
She holds a law degree from Universidad Santa María La Antigua (2014) and a Master’s degree in Fiscal Management, as well as a specialization in Taxation from UNESCPA (2017).
Prior to joining the firm, Victoria held senior positions in the public sector between 2015 and 2021, including leadership roles in the Department of Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes and the Fiscal Strategy Unit of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. During this time, she gained extensive experience in OECD international standards, regulatory compliance, and played a key role in Panama’s process of being removed from non-cooperative tax jurisdiction lists.
Victoria has advised clients on tax matters related to corporate transactions, including share acquisitions, and provides guidance on the application of double taxation treaties, issuance of tax residence certificates, tax compliance, and the use of incentives under special tax regimes. She also advises on tax aspects of real estate transactions and other matters related to the tax practice.
Her public sector experience provides her with a strong regulatory and policy perspective, which she applies to her day-to-day tax advisory work.
She is an active member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), reflecting her commitment to continuous professional development and her focus on international tax practice.
